B12 reduces Infant Crying

Interesting new research shows that when women increase their intake of B12 in the first 3 months of pregnancy, their babies are likely to be calmer and to cry less.

Researchers suggest that this is due to the major role that the vitamin plays in the development of the brain and nervous system of the fetus. In the study of over 3000 pregnant women, those who had higher B12 levels in their blood also had infants who were 8 times less likely to cry!

B12 is only found in animal foods, such as meats, fish and eggs. Mothers who are vegetarian or vegan should be sure to take a pregnancy multivitamin that has adequate levels of this and other essential nutrients.
